  If your idea of an MMA gym is a tough, mean place filled with retarded muscle heads, then at Xtreme Couture you will not be disappointed. Also known as The Olympian center, Xtreme Couture Lombard is offered in warehouse in an industrial complex located right off the highway. And like most warehouses, there are no locker rooms, no showers, no water fountains, or even a place for you to put your bags. You get some weights, a mat, a cage, and some heavy bags, and that's it.
  
  And what I say that's it, I really do mean that's it. I attended a boxing class that had about 25 people in it. The person whom I first assumed was the coach, told us to wrap our hands, and then do 3 rounds of line drills, heavy bag work, sparing, and shadowboxing. And then he sat down to talk to his MMA buddies and literally laugh at the people who were working out. When I waited for a little instruction on HOW to do a line drill, he just said "get to work". Basically, we were given a circuit and told to wander from station to station; there was not even an order or rotation.
  
  The good news is that this guy wasn't the head coach. The bad news is that the head coach was some other guy who didn't even take the time to introduce himself to me until half-way through the session. He took a scant 5 seconds to tell me how to stand for the line drill, and then went back to ignoring me for the rest of the class.
  
  As someone who has clearly never thrown a punch before, I started to wonder why I would pay any amount of money to don boxing gloves, make myself look like a fool, learn nothing, and have a bunch of college-dropout MMA morons make fun of me. How little was the instruction you ask? One woman spent 20 minutes literally punching the wall, and then left.
  
  When I talked to the guy at the front counter about how I was disappointed that I didn't learn anything, he first made the excuse that since it was summer, and not that many people showed up, that the coach must have forgotten there were new people who needed help. Which is the poorest excuse for anything I have ever heard. Gee, do people work out when it's 70 degrees and sunny? Or do they decide to go work out when it's 10 degrees and snowing outside? And clearly the coach had noticed me, and made a conscious effort to ignore me for the entire class. Even if the rest of the logic did follow, the conclusion does not make sense. I know MMA fans aren't the brightest in the world, but how stupid do you have to be to not notice the out of shape guy flailing his arms at a bag for an hour?
  
  The front desk guy then conceded that yes, the classes are just always like that. Apparently they are only interested in training people for matches. It's my conjecture that they're trying to make a name for their gym, so perhaps one day someone from there can become famous, put his name on a random MMA hole in the ground, and then train instructors on ignoring their customers.
