  I liked this place when I first moved in. I got a special deal at $899 a month for a 2nd floor remodeled apartment. Now it's 4 years later and the rent is $1090 with a $30 charge for utilities (gas and water) starting next lease. But the worst part are the maintenence people. They're rip off artists and lazy slouches. One time, my smoke detector started beeping so I replaced the batteries, but still beeping. Called maintenence and one guy said he had to get new batteries from the truck and took the detector with him. Came back and installed the decector and it worked fine. He said it was a "low battery" problem. Two days later I got a letter from the front office saying I owed them $100 fine for violating the lease by not keeping fresh batteries in the smoke detector. Then I realized what happened. The maintenance guy replaced the detector with a new one because it was bad but told me it was low batteries (he went down to the truck, remember). As I later found out, it was a con because that detector would announce a low battery condition with a woman's voice. It would beep if there was a malfunction. So, low batteries is my responsibily, bad detector is management's. They took me for $100.
  
  Just last year, the tenants below me had a wet ceiling in their bathroom. Maintenence checked my bathroom and had to replace the wax ring on my toilet. No problem till the maintenance guy left. He used a thick dark grease to seal the ring and toilet and left globs of it all along the toilet base and bolts. WHAT A SLOPPY JOB!!!
  
  Now the Westmore Apartments have been sold to a new company and several maintenance people have "moved on to other interests". I received a letter saying they will do mandatory pest control regardless of apartment conditions. Well, there's never been an infestation problem since I've been here. But they will use chemical pastes and whatever even if there's no proplem. That's a deal breaker for me. I won't allow toxic chemicals of any kind in my domicile. Period!!!
